4 Days From Marrakech To The Merzouga Desert

DAY 1- MARRAKECH – OUARZAZATE – SKOURA – DADES VALLEY AND GORGES

We will pick you up from your hotel/riad accommodation in Marrakech or from the airport, and start our tour by passing through the impressive High Atlas mountains and the Tiz-in-Tichka pass (the largest in the whole south of the country and reaching 2260m). We will stop, all along the way, to enjoy the extraordinary views that the route shows us, to relax and take pictures of these magnificent sites. We will continue our journey until we reach the film capital Ouarzazate, where after lunch and rest, we will continue, again, the journey until we reach the village of Skoura, which is located in the heart of the valley of the palms, an extensive and labyrinthine oasis, whose exuberant vegetation covers beautiful secret kasbahs. We can also visit its kasbah. After this we will continue the road from the beautiful Valley of the Roses to the Dades Valley, where we will visit its magnificent Dades Gorges.

DAY 2- DADES VALLEY – TODRA GORGES – ERFOUD -MERZOUGA- ERG CHEBBI DESERT

Breakfast and departure through the banks of Boulmane, where a road opens up full of kasbahs (citadel) and ksour (forts or castles), whose landscape is very different and beautiful. All around us we find rocky plateaus where dromedaries graze. After a tour full of ksour, oasis and palm trees Tineghir arrive known for the spectacular Todra Gorges where the Todra River has formed a gorge with vertical walls of enormous proportions and great beauty. Then we will go to Erfoud the capital of the city of fossils, and after passing through Rissani, we will arrive at the dunes of Erg chebbi Merzouga. Once we arrive at the hotel we will remove what we do not need and ride camels that will take us to the heart of the desert, there we will enjoy the view of the sunset. Then we will follow the road to the high dunes where the Haimas camp is located to reach the Haimas camp, then there we will have dinner and spend the night under a sky full of stars.

DAY 3- MERZOUGA-RISSANI – THE DRAA VALLEY – OUARZAZATE

Morning return to the hotel on camels for breakfast and a shower. Then we will go to Rissani, capital of the Alaouit dynasty and first imperial city, whose market (Souk) is considered the biggest in the whole south of Morocco, and where the nomads from the surroundings come to sell their cattle and buy the goods they need. A stop at this wonderful market will be a good idea so we will try to make it to buy something to keep as a souvenir, also we will try to taste their famous Berber pizza. After this we will take again the road to Ouarzazate passing by the Draa Valley, where the longest river in Morocco runs, we will make another stop in this valley to appreciate the fabulous adobe kasbahs and Berber villages that dot the route and the interesting geological formations of the Draa Valley.

DAY 4- OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

Ouarzazate is as you know the capital of cinema in Morocco, so we will try to visit its film studios, where many famous Hollywood movies have been filmed. For what follows we will go to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, classified World Patrimony of the Humanity for the UNESCO, and place where series and movies have been located as Asterix & Obelix, Babel, Lawrence of Arabia…etc. Free time to walk around the kasbah and climb to the top to contemplate the views. Again, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains with their incredible views. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon.
