5 Days From Marrakech to Merzouga


Day 1: Marrakech – Dades Gorges :

Morning departure from your hotel / Riad in Marrakech 08 hours and crossing the mountains of the High Atlas Tizi – n- Tichka , the highest of cervical in Africa. We continue Dades Gorges , passing the oasis of Skoura , where numerous ancient kasbahs , unfortunately in ruins, stand out among the palm trees. From here, our route takes us through Kela’ a M’ gouna , Valley of the Roses, where we stop to see cosmetic items made locally from abundant roses from the Valley. These products are well known throughout Morocco and are very much appreciated. Stop at Dades Gorges in a hotel near the river for the night.

Day 2:

After breakfast, two days walk and 1 night in the surroundings of Dades begins. During the walk, mules carrying equipment (blankets, mattresses, cooking equipment and personal luggage). Guide and mule will highlight the characteristics of the landscape and describe the life of the local Berbers who live in the Anti-Atlas mountains. The pace and length of each part of the hike is set by the hikers, leaving time to stop when and as a desirable or necessary measure. You will probably spend one night with a Berber family and the other in the caves with the Berber nomads tending to their goats in the mountains.

Day 3: Mountains – Merzouga

In the morning we walk to the hostel to refresh yourself with a shower, before heading to the dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, stopping on the way to visit the Todra stop and s later in Rissani for lunch. Otherwise, you will have lunch on arrival at the camp, where you will spend the night.

Day 4:

Merzouga in the evening , one hour you will provide a camel through the large sand dunes and stone across the Sahara , to prepare lunches in the dunes . In the afternoon, a two-hour camel ride is scheduled to reach the high dunes (Erg Chebbi). From there, 250m, sunset is an amazing spectacle. Dinner and night is in a camp at the foot of the dunes.

Day 5 : Merzouga – Marrakech

If you get up early, you can see the spectacle of the sunrise, when the colour of the dunes and the play of the shadows are an impressive sight. Then we ride to the east of the Draa Valley through the villages of Tazzarine (in the movie “Babel”) and N’ Qob for lunch. In the afternoon, we head to Tanasikht along the track of the old caravan route to reach the Draa Valley, full of tall palms and old Kasbahs, Agdez. The road passes through the Tizi – n- Tinfifite going to Ouarzazate and night in a riad. Ait Ben Haddou, UNESCO World Heritage Site and the backdrop for many Hollywood movies. It is the most famous Kasbah in Morocco. From there, the road continues on the new Telouet asphalt road. This Kasbah is situated in the middle of the mountains and was the seat of the last Pasha of Marrakech, El Glaoui, where the highest pass in Africa, Tizi – n – Tichka was controlled. At the end of the afternoon we arrived in Marrakech.
